60 | Parks Info: 402-471-0641 O ne of eastern Nebraska's most popular recreation areas, Fremont has 401 land acres and 270 water acres in 20 sandpit lakes. Located 3 miles west of Fremont, the area is a favorite with campers, picnickers and water enthusiasts, offering boating, fishing and water skiing. The swimming beaches are unsupervised and personal watercraft are allowed on lakes 10 and 15. Accessible fishing piers are also available. The campgrounds offer Electric and Basic camping, drinking water, updated showers, restrooms and a dump-and-fill station, and the area has one concession. GROUP FACILITY Tucked against the shoreline of Lake 16, Fremont Lakes SRA has a facility for family get-togethers and events. Contact the park for more information. FISHING Twenty lakes offer opportunities for catfish, largemouth bass, crappie and bluegill. Trout are stocked on specific lakes in the fall and spring. Lake 2 provides trout fishing from fall to spring. Fishing piers and fish access trails are located on several of the lakes.
