OutdoorNebraska.gov | 19 F rom its hilltop location, the Wildcat Hills Nature Center offers spectacular views of the rugged escarpment for which it is named. Located 10 miles south of Gering on the 1,094-acre Wildcat Hills SRA, the center opened in 1995 and received an 8,200-square-foot addition in 2016. Through windows in the building, visitors can get close- up views of birds and other wildlife coming to the feeders. The addition has two new exhibit rooms on the main floor, a community meeting and conference room that seats 125 people and a classroom designed for youth education. The community room also houses an observation deck that overlooks the North Platte River Valley and Scotts Bluff National Monument. Trails wind through the pine forested hills and canyons around the center. Basic camping, picnic tables and a picnic shelter are available. SHOOTING SPORTS COMPLEX Wildcat Hills SRA offers a family-friendly shooting sports education center, with a focus on safety, education and fun. The center features archery, small bore, pellet, shotgun and rifle ranges. It provides educational programming and quality instruction. Equipment rental is available.
