OutdoorNebraska.gov | 17 T his northwestern Nebraska attraction on the edge of the Sandhills is located 2 miles east and 3 miles south of Hay Springs. Walgren Lake SRA offers camping and fishing opportunities in a serene setting. Primitive camping and restrooms are available. FISHING Fishing is good on the 100-acre lake, where you can catch yellow perch, crappie, bluegill, walleye, channel catfish, northern pike and largemouth bass. All boats are allowed at Walgren Lake, but please follow the 5 mph speed limit. A ramp and dock are available. A wheelchair-accessible rock jetty is also available near the stone picnic shelter house.
