OutdoorNebraska.gov | 15 ACTIVITIES AND OTHER FACILITIES From Memorial Day to Labor Day, visitors will find a restaurant, information center, museums, restored exhibit buildings, historical tours, jeep tours, horseback trail rides, stagecoach rides, aquatic center with splash pad, jeep- drawn hayrack breakfast, steak and buffalo stew cookouts, activity center with snack shop, bicycle and kayak rentals, group function facilities, summer theatre, souvenirs, buffalo display area, hiking, bird watching and abundant wildlife viewing. The area offers some of the most panoramic vistas found anywhere in the state. Visitors may bring their own horses and enjoy the 30,000-plus acres of public land. Rental stalls and pens can accommodate 180 horses. Excellent horse and hike/bike trails lace the area. FISHING Fort Robinson offers anglers both warm- and coldwater fishing opportunities on several ponds, creeks and rivers. Largemouth bass, rock bass, bluegill, crappie and catfish are among the warmwater fishing species and coldwater fishing opportunities for trout can be found in Squaw Creek, the White River and on Soldier Creek. Hike into the Soldier Creek Wilderness Area and you can catch brook, brown and rainbow trout. An aquatic habitat project has been completed on the two Grabel ponds, along with the Cherry Creek diversion pond and the lower Ice House ponds.
