PEOPLE OF NEBRASKA
Those responsible for planning or managing
outdoor recreation can use this information as one
tool to help them make well-informed decisions about
their future outdoor recreation plans. This is only one
component that should be considered in addition
to the supply, demand and priorities that your
community would like to see.
Think about the implications of the demographic
data in addition to using it to guide decisions on who
might be engaged in developing outdoor recreation
opportunities in your community. These are just a few
examples of questions that could be worthwhile to
investigate.
• What potential effects might population density
have on outdoor recreation access?
• How might shifting needs over time be
influenced by the makeup of the household?
• Are the voices of all races, ethnicities and other
diverse groups included when involving the
public in outdoor recreation planning?
• Is there a balance between outdoor recreation
opportunities and built environments, such as a
new housing development?
