2025–2030 SCORP 35 DEMAND Quality of Life For Nebraskans, outdoor recreation is important for a fulfilling quality of life. Outdoor recreation enhances quality of life by providing areas of solitude, places to exercise, or the opportunity to bond with others that share similar interests. This calls for adequate funding and support. It's important to focus on both the growth and enhancement of outdoor recreational facilities as well as the long-term maintenance of these essential resources. The Limited Access Populations Pilot Survey and a 2023 Nebraska Annual Social Indicators Survey (NASIS) reported similar results on the importance of outdoor recreation. 89.2% of respondents in the NASIS indicated that outdoor spaces are somewhat or very important to them and their household. None of the respondents in the Limited Access Populations Pilot Survey, which had the same question format as the Generalized Outdoor Recreation Survey, reported that outdoor recreation was not important. This information can help those planning outdoor recreation development communicate the importance with decision makers.
