2025–2030 SCORP 29 NEBRASKA'S OUTDOOR RECREATION PRIORITIES Tips for Successful Grant Writing • Start Early: Read and review all the information available related to the grant for requirements, eligibility, etc. • Ask Questions: Contact the grant organization or administrator and ask questions to get a better understanding of the application. » Be aware of the "strings attached" to federal grants and what may be required of you throughout the grant cycle and once the project is complete. For example, a LWCF grant requires the property funded be maintained and accessible for public outdoor recreation in perpetuity (forever). » Consider the timeline of federal grants and if that aligns with your project goals. If needed, ask for clarification on the application review and selection process. Understanding the process can help in writing a successful application. » Ask for clarification on the application review and selection process. » Most federal sources of funding cannot be matched with LWCF, unless specifically specified. Contact the LWCF team with questions about eligible match. • Involve Your Community: Public engagement throughout the project planning process indicates strong community commitment.
