LINCOLN – A public informational meeting will be held June 1 in Ogallala regarding the Lake McConaughy/Lake Ogallala Master Plan, which is being developed.
The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission will host the meeting, which will include a short presentation of goals and objectives created by the advisory committee, and a question-and-answer session in which public comment will be recorded.
The meeting will begin at 7 p.m. in the conference room of the Quality Inn, 201 Chuckwagon Road.
The advisory committee overseeing the planning process is made up of Commission parks, fisheries, wildlife and law enforcement personnel, as well as concessionaires operating at McConaughy, landowners, and economic development personnel from the Keith County and the City of Ogallala.
This plan will review the operations of Lake McConaughy and Lake Ogallala and look for ways to promote the surrounding area to its 1 million-plus annual visitors. It also will evaluate best management practices for giving visitors a unique, pleasurable experience that will bring them back again.
For more information about the meeting or the plan, contact Craig Wacker, recreation planner for the Commission, at craig.wacker@nebraska.gov or 402-471-5424.
