We lost one of our Nebraska fisheries professionals this spring, Dr. Richard Holland.
My relationship with Rick went all the way back to my days as an undergrad at the University of Nebraska. Rick was my limnology professor. I still have my notes from his class. Also have the term paper for that class with Rick’s red marks and comments on it. By the way, the paper was on Nebraska’s sandhill lakes.
He was one of the best professors I had in college. However, Dr. Holland was always convinced that I did nothing in his class other than talk fishing with one of my classmates. That was at least partially true.
Subsequently, Rick and I ended up being co-workers here at the Nebraska Game & Parks Commission. He was my supervisor for a few years.
Right now, I want to mention this:
Rick will be missed by many of us, but his contributions to our Nebraska fisheries will go on for years to come!
