2026–2030 SCORP 53 SUPPLY Nebraska Game and Parks, along with other wetland partners, provide information and resources for incorporating wetlands in outdoor recreation and other projects. The "Guide to Nebraska's Wetlands and their conservation needs" is a supplement to the SCORP. It provides information about what a wetland is, why they are important, and the wetland resources found across Nebraska. It also provides guidance on conservation approaches that can be used in conjunction with outdoor recreation. The Wetland Program Plan for Nebraska aims to continue to protect, restore and manage Nebraska's wetlands. The Environmental Protection Agency- approved plan calls for the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission and partner agencies to assess the condition of Nebraska's wetlands, improve understanding of baseline conditions, and to prioritize wetland restoration and protection activities. There are tremendous opportunities available for conservation and outdoor recreation within Nebraska's wetlands. Nebraska Game and Parks partnered with the University of Nebraska to create "Integrating Wetland Conservation into Local Planning." This guidebook provides information for local planners and outdoor recreation providers to consider when planning outdoor recreation development in conjunction with wetland conservation. Utilize these resources to understand the usefulness of wetlands and how they can be incorporated into outdoor recreation projects. The benefits can support not only the outdoor recreation experience but also the stewardship of the land.
