2026–2030 SCORP 25 NEBRASKA'S OUTDOOR RECREATION PRIORITIES Address challenges • Seek new, creative and permanent funding sources, (e.g., recreation bonds, local sales tax or private endowments.) • Support conservation of natural resources through outdoor recreation resource management. • Understand the economic value outdoor recreation brings to your community and be intentional in maximizing its benefits. • Seek new and creative ways to encourage outdoor recreation participation. • Invest in short- and long-term stewardship planning; evaluate all that must be done to sustain the outdoor recreation resource and make a plan on how and when each element can be addressed. Create and maintain partnerships • Public/private partnerships appear to achieve the best outcomes. Consider how to encourage these partnerships within Nebraska communities. • Seek out paid and volunteer maintenance partnerships. Create maintenance agreements with partners when possible. • Encourage others to build connections with outdoor resources in their community. • Conduct "park maintenance days" with your partners and volunteers to facilitate longevity of your resources and to build a sense of community/buy-in for your outdoor recreation amenities and facilities. Create community events to build partnerships and recruit volunteers. Boaters enjoy the fall colors at Wehrspann Lake.
