Wetland water conditions across the state are poor, with most wetlands in the Rainwater Basin dry, according to the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission. Hunters should be prepared to scout ahead of teal season.
Some pumping is planned ahead of the teal opener at select wetlands in Adams, Clay, Fillmore, Hamilton, Nuckolls, Thayer, York, Dixon and Platte counties.
The conditions recently were observed by biologists on the ground. View the Aug. 24 report on wetland conditions and pumping plans at OutdoorNebraska.gov/waterfowlchecklist. Updates will be posted there regularly throughout the duck seasons.

In addition to providing places to hunt waterfowl, wetlands are pumped when needed to provide habitat for migrating waterfowl and other water birds, and to provide areas for people to observe wildlife.
