Repairs

You all know that we had some crazy flooding around the state a couple of years ago.  I am sure you are also aware that it has taken some time to repair and recover from the damage.  Some of that work has not been finished yet.

Disaster funding is great, but it can take a while to come through.  Seems like everything takes longer right now.  However, I recently drove by a couple of places where we have been able to get some projects done.

The flooding we had around Kearney was a little different than that in the rest of the state, but it caused its own problems.  After that event, here is what the access to Kea West wildlife area looked like:

And here it is now:

Here is the new boat ramp:

PB010004

Because of the presence of unwanted species of fish after the flooding, Kea West was also chemically renovated.  Smallmouth bass, yellow perch and crappie have been re-stocked.

East of Kearney, there was similar damage at the Bufflehead wildlife area.

Bufflehead

And now:

New boat ramp:

PB010009

A rotenone renovation was not needed at Bufflehead.  You will find mostly bluegill, largemouth bass, and channel catfish there to catch, maybe a rock bass, yellow perch or common carp.

GO FISH!
