Stumbled across this on the interwebs this week. It is corny, but I loved it. Before I quote it, here is where you can see the “original”: Ordinary Outdoorsman.
The only thing I would have to change about that little “ditty” is the reel–gotta be one of my beloved “cream and green” Zebco Cardinal 4’s! Oh, and I ain’t retiring it.
Back in my high school days I saved my pennies to buy my first quality spinning reel. I shopped and shopped and agonized over that decision, picked the best spinning reel of the time, still have it, still use it, still love it! As far as I am concerned, it is still as good as anything else, even the more modern spinning reels on the market now. I have and still use several of the old “Cream and Greens”!

Oh yes, I am a believer in using the right tool for the job; I have a basement full of fishing rods and reels to prove it. But, there is something to be said for picking quality equipment and then using it as much as possible. The more you have that one tool in your hand, the more proficient you will become with it. No less than long-time, professional bass angler Rick Clunn has said the same thing.
