Lake and pond management workshops scheduled

LINCOLN, Neb. – Persons interested in pond and lake management are invited to a series of free workshops this spring.

The workshops are a joint effort of the Nebraska Extension, Nebraska Department of Environmental Quality and Nebraska Game and Parks Commission. The workshops are intended for landowners and others interested in learning about:

— Sandpit lake functions, characteristics and challenges

— Managing waters for fisheries

— Lake management planning

— Resolving common maintenance problems

— Toxic algae management and sampling

— Invasive species

Reservations are required. The schedule for the workshops, which will begin at 6 p.m., is as follows:

Grand Island – March 2, Hall County Extension Office, 3180 W. U.S. Highway 34; register by Feb. 27 at http://go.unl.edu/grandislandlake

Weeping Water – March 7, Cass County Extension Office, 8400 144th St., Ste. 100; register by March 2 at http://go.unl.edu/weepingwaterlake
