Ice Depth-Finder Modifications

I have a hard time convincing ice anglers nowadays that there actually was a time when we caught fish through the ice WITHOUT A DEPTH-FINDER!  Certainly, many of the “millennials” or “Generation Z-ers” or whatever, cannot even imagine being on the ice without that technology.  But, as the Sonic commercial jokes, some of us are “perennials”–thought we were dead, but we just keep coming back–and we can remember when we caught fish, lots of fish, through the ice while fishing “blind”.

Regardless, as old as I am, I cannot imagine hitting the ice now without my depth-finder.  Most of us have a special attachment to that piece of equipment!

I am thinking in a few parts of Nebraska we are going to be on the ice for some time yet, but even if you are not, here are some ideas for tricking-out the depth-finder you are using on ice.  You can have it all ready to go for next ice season:

Modifying the Genz box for ice fishing

Ice anglers are constantly tweaking and customizing their gear to give them the upper hand on their fishing buddies — I'm no different. Here's how I've rigged up my Genz box the past three seasons to make me more efficient on the ice.#icefishing
