Family Fishing Events 2017

I know this is not new news and in fact some of our family fishing events for this summer have already occurred.  However, we are getting to the time now when almost all the kids are out of school and I want to post this up as a little reminder!

Family Fishing Events scheduled for 2017

LINCOLN, Neb. – Join the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission for another spring and summer of fun with Family Fishing Events.

Family Fishing Events provide opportunities for people of all ages who have never fished or have not fished in years to learn and enjoy the activity. Rods and reels, as well as bait and fishing instruction, will be available for free. Look for the Family Fishing Trailer at each site. Appropriate fishing and park permits are required.

The following Family Fishing Events are from 6-8 p.m., unless otherwise noted. The schedule is:

May 1 – Terrytown, Terry’s Pit; May 13 – Kearney, Fort Kearny Outdoor Expo, Fort Kearny State Recreation Area (SRA), 9 a.m.-4 p.m.; May 14 – Scottsbluff, Riverside Discovery Center Zoo Pond; May 23 – Lincoln, Holmes Lake; May 25 – Papillion, Lake Halleck;

June 7 – Omaha, Benson Park Pond; June 8 – Grand Island, Mormon Island SRA; June 8 – Lincoln, Oak Lake; June 11 – Terrytown, Terry’s Pit, 4-7 p.m.; June 13 – Papillion, Walnut Creek Reservoir; June 14 – Lincoln, Bowling Lake; June 17 – Raymond, Carp-O-Rama, Branched Oak SRA, 8 a.m.-1 p.m.;

June 20 – Lincoln, Holmes Lake; June 21 – Gibbon, Windmill SRA; June 22 – Kearney, Cottonmill Lake; June 22 – Omaha, Towl Park; June 22 – Norfolk, Skyview Lake; June 23 – North Platte, Birdwood Wildlife Management Area; June 28 – LaVista, Prairie Queen Recreation Area; June 29 – Omaha, Carter Lake;

July 9 – Scottsbluff, Riverside Discovery Center Zoo Pond, 4-7 p.m.; July 11 – Lincoln, Oak Lake; July 13 – Papillion, Lake Halleck; July 14 – Holdrege, City Park Pond; July 15 – North Platte, Carp-O-Rama, Maloney SRA, 8 a.m.-1 p.m.; July 18 – Omaha, Lake Zorinsky; July 19 – Lincoln, Bowling Lake; July 20 – Norfolk, Skyview Lake; July 27 – Omaha, Benson Park Pond; July 28 – Broken Bow, Melham Park;
