Just got word about current access to a couple of waterbodies. I know it is fall and many of you will not care, but again, if you are still fishing these waters, you will want to know:
Cottonwood-Steverson WMA boat ramp to close for repairs
The boat ramp at Cottonwood-Steverson Wildlife Management Area, located north of Hyannis in Cherry County, will close temporarily starting Oct. 2 so repairs to the boat ramp may begin.
There has been significant undermining, settlement, and separation of the boat ramp and concrete sidewalk to the point that it needs to be repaired.
Construction is expected to last one week; however, the ramp will remain closed for an additional three weeks or until the concrete has had adequate time to cure and support the weight of vehicle traffic.
This project is made possible through a Sportfish Restoration grant. Questions can be directed to ngpc.boataccess@nebraska.gov.
Have seen some questions about the progress on the Wildwood access improvements. I just got an update:
Opening of Wildwood WMA boat ramp delayed
The east access road off NW 84th Street, leading to the boat ramp and parking lot at the Wildwood Wildlife Management Area south of Valparaiso, remains closed as the project experiences slight delays.
Pending concrete test results on Oct. 12, the anticipated reopening of the ramp and parking area now is mid-October.
The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission and the Lower Platte South Natural Resources District are working to try and reopen the ramp before the end of the boating season.
All other access roads and parking lots at Wildwood WMA are open.
This boat access project is addressing issues of heaved and cracked concrete on the boat ramp. Renovation of the boat launch facility will greatly improve functionality and benefit users for many years.
Questions can be directed to ngpc.boataccess@nebraska.gov.
