It was the eve of deer rifle season, sitting by the front door were two pairs of boots, two blaze orange vests, a backpack of snacks, binoculars and one rifle.  They were ready to go!  Catching the last few minute of sleep I hear small feet walking towards the bed.  “Mom, I thought dad was getting up early to go hunting?”  Seeing that is was 5:25 am, I reassured him that dad’s alarm clock will be going off any minute.  What seemed like seconds later, his small feet were covered by warm boots and the pajamas switched out for blaze orange. Now on any given school day this same little human is literally pulled out of bed and has to be told five times to put on his shoes.  The pre-hunt exhilaration that morning was priceless.  That same excitement extended into the field and shared through the after stories

Kyler, only seven years old, will always remember his first deer hunt with dad.  The next weekend Kyler wanted to take his five year old brother hunting too.  To this day, they both are on a natural high, ready to head out with dad again with the muzzleloader.  While they didn’t come home with a deer, the success is truly in the experience. Seven or seventeen, take them hunting!
