Road Work Scheduled on Exit to Mahoney and Platte River State Parks

May 20, 2016 Jerry Kane

LINCOLN – Visitors who use Interstate 80 to enjoy Eugene T. Mahoney and Platte River state parks (SP) will encounter road construction at exit 426 this summer.

The project will include both directions of Nebraska Highway 66 between 274th St., west of Mahoney SP, and E. Rock Creek Road, west of South Bend. This will include a lane closure on the interstate overpass with an 11-foot width restriction.

Drivers should consider alternate routes to Mahoney SP to avoid the restricted overpass. From the east, take U.S. 6 just north of exit 432 to Ashland, and then go east on 66 to the park. From the west, take Interstate 80 exit 420 to Nebraska 63, then north to U.S. 6, east to Ashland, and 66 east to Mahoney.

Projected construction dates will be from May 31 through Oct. 17.

A park entry permit is required for each vehicle entering these parks.
