The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission is looking for an agricultural tenant to graze at Muskrat Run Wildlife Management Area. The 205-acre area is located about 4.5 miles west and two miles north of North Platte.
The lease will be for at least 115 cow/calf pairs, or adjusted numbers for feeders or replacement heifers. Grazing will begin April 20 through May 31, 2024.
Bids will be accepted for grazing at Muskrat Run WMA until 11:59 p.m. CST March 1, 2024.
Game and Parks uses grazing to help manage noxious weeds and other invasive species at wildlife management areas, which provides better habitat for wildlife species.
Information about bidding was included in the North Platte Telegraph on Feb. 22, 24, and 27, 2024. Interested parties can contact Scott Aden, wildlife biologist at the North Platte Game and Parks district office at 308-535-8025 for more information.
