Programs are included in admission: $10 for adults; $7 for youth ages 4 to 12; free for 3 and under; and $7 for seniors.

Learn about common butterflies of eastern Nebraska

Join Joanne Langabee and Holly Hofreiter from 2 to 3 p.m. Oct. 24 at Schramm Education Center to learn about the common butterflies of eastern Nebraska.

The program is part of the monthly Schramm Sunday Speaker Series aimed at delivering expert presentations on the natural and cultural history of Nebraska. The event is free and open to the public.

Langabee and Hofreiter have been conducting butterfly field research at Laurtizen Gardens and Fontenelle Forest since 2015. Based on their research, they created a new field guide: “Common Butterflies of Eastern Nebraska.”

Participants will learn how to identify butterflies and about host and nectar plants that support butterflies. They’ll then head outside to search for butterfly host plants around the education center.

Register to attend through the event listing at calendar.outdoornebraska.gov.
