June 29, 2022 Jerry Kane

Spend a post-holiday Saturday morning fishing with the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission on July 9 at Branched Oak State Recreation Area.

Game and Parks will hold a Community Fishing Event at Liebers Point from 9 a.m. to noon.

Community Fishing Events provide opportunities for people of all ages who have never fished or have not fished in years to learn and enjoy the activity. Rods and reels, as well as bait and fishing instruction, will be available for free.

Look for the Community Fishing Events Trailer on site. Appropriate fishing and park permits are required. All fishing regulations apply.

Also, Bowling Lake in Lincoln on July 13 will host a Community Fishing Event and Discover Fly-Fishing from 6 to 8 p.m. Discover Fly-Fishing events are for anyone interested in a basic introduction to fly-fishing. Learn about the equipment and how to use it, then watch a fly-tying demonstration. Loaner fly rods will be available.

Lincoln’s Holmes Lake will host a Community Fishing Event on July 16 from 8 a.m.-1 p.m. and Aug. 3 from 6-8 p.m. The July 16 event will be held in cooperation with the Cornhusker State Games.
