Ownership: NGPC Potential Partners: NGPC Parks Division, Nebraska Department of Environment and Energy, Burlington Northern Sante Fe Railroad. Bear Pierce Cedar 2A (Gage County) Bear Pierce Cedar 2A is a 24-acre reservoir located near Beatrice and is owned by the Lower Big Blue NRD. The reservoir has an established Bluegill, Largemouth Bass, Crappie and Channel Catfish fishery; however, it lacks adequate access due to high sedimentation on the east end and dense tree cover on the south side. A project focusing on sediment removal in the upper end, tree clearing and updating the boat ramp would greatly improve the angling experience. Goals: Habitat, Access Tasks: a. Remove sediment to improve angler access to deeper water with reduced aquatic vegetation growth. b. Reduce sedimentation rate to main reservoir with construction of a dike and sediment removal. c. Tree clearing and bank sloping to improve boating and angler access. d. Improve boat launch facilities with concrete ramp. Ownership: Lower Big Blue NRD Potential Partners: Lower Big Blue NRD Clatonia 3A (Gage County) Clatonia 3A is a 46-acre reservoir managed by the Lower Big Blue NRD, located 1-mile north of Clatonia. The lake has been significantly impacted by sedimentation and has not provided a satisfactory fishery for many years. Recently, the Lower Big Blue NRD has expressed interest in completing a joint restoration project which would improve a valuable resource to this area. Goals: Habitat, Access, Prevention Tasks: a. Targeted sediment removal to restore storage capacity and enhance angler access. b. Reduce sedimentation rate to main reservoir with construction of a dike and sediment removal. c. Improve boat launch facilities with the addition of parking and boat ramp. d. Improve shoreline access with bump outs, jetties and docks. e. Chemical renovation of fish population to improve sportfish populations.
