26 | P a g e Alexandria SRA (Jefferson County) Alexandria SRA is composed of two spring-fed lakes totaling 46 acres. Low lake levels, due to the deterioration of the corrugated steel outlet pipe on the West Lake and leakage between the dam boards on the East Lake, have caused serious angler access and fish habitat issues over the last 15 years. More recently, it was noted that tree establishment on the dam has resulted in significant erosion problems. The fishery has also degraded as Common Carp have reduced water quality and aquatic vegetation. This project would greatly increase angler access, maintain normal water levels, and improve fishing opportunities. Goals: Habitat, Access, Prevention Tasks: a. Remove sediment from West Lake to improve angler access to deeper water with reduced aquatic vegetation growth. b. Construct kayak launch and a boat launch facility for NGPC fisheries management activities. c. Chemical renovation of fish population to improve sportfish populations.
