31 | P a g e Lower Big Blue has recently expressed a desire to complete a joint project to remove sediment, renovate the fishery and improve angler access. Goals: Habitat, Access, Prevention Tasks: a. Targeted sediment removal to restore storage capacity and enhance angler access areas. b. Construction of a sediment retention structure to reduce sedimentation rate. c. Enhance angler access by increasing depth around current breakwaters. d. Chemical renovation of fish population to improve sportfish populations. e. Replace boat ramp facilities to improve access for launching. Ownership: Lower Big Blue NRD Potential Partners: Lower Big Blue NRD Two Rivers SRA/WMA (Douglas County) Two Rivers SRA/WMA is comprised of seven sandpit lakes covering 32 surface acres of water. Among these, the Trout Lake (Lake #5) is the most popular, receiving several Rainbow Trout stockings each spring. While shoreline access is maintained throughout the park, there is a notable lack of ADA-compliant and family-friendly access compared to other heavily used state recreation areas along the Platte River. This project aims to address these access issues by constructing fishing piers and angler access bump-outs throughout the park, along with ADA-compliant access routes. Additionally, the project will enhance fishing opportunities by renovating lakes #1, #2, #3, and #6, which are currently have high densities of Common Carp and Gizzard Shad. Goals: Habitat, Access, Prevention Tasks: a. Improve shoreline access with bump outs, jetties and docks. b. Fish habitat enhancements with artificial structures and cedar trees. c. Construct boat access to aid in fish management activities. d. Sediment removal from Lake #6 to increase depth. e. Chemical renovation of fish population to improve sportfish populations in Lakes #1, #2, #3, and #6 Ownership: NGPC Potential Partners: NGPC Parks Division, Metropolitan Utilities District, Game and Parks Foundation.
