30 | P a g e Red Cedar (Lancaster County) Red Cedar is 50 surface acres and owned by the Lower Platte South NRD. The lake offers anglers a good fishing opportunity in northern Lancaster County. However, it is an aging reservoir and shallow due to years of sediment accumulation and lacks sufficient angler access and amenities. The project should enhance average depth, improve angler access, and significantly upgrade the overall fishing experience. Goals: Access, Habitat Tasks: a. Targeted sediment removal to restore storage capacity and enhance angler access areas. b. Improve shoreline access with bump outs, jetties and docks. Ownership: Lower Platte South NRD Potential Partners: Lower Platte South NRD, NGPC Wildlife Division. Rockford Lake (Gage County) Rockford is a 150-acre reservoir, located 9 miles east and 2 miles south of Beatrice which was impounded in 1968. Bathymetric maps created in 2016 indicated significant sedimentation, especially in the upper reaches of the reservoir. The fishery is in poor condition, dominated by Common Carp, White Perch and Gizzard Shad and would require a chemical fish renovation. This project seeks to tackle these issues by removing sediment, enhancing storage capacity, reducing sedimentation rates, updating outdated infrastructure and improving angler access. Goals: Habitat, Access, Prevention Tasks: a. Reduce sedimentation rate to main reservoir with construction of a dike and sediment removal. b. Replace boat ramp facilities to improve access for launching. c. Improve shoreline access with bump outs, jetties and docks. d. Chemical renovation of fish population to improve sportfish populations. e. Enhance in-lake fish habitat using cedar trees and artificial structures. Ownership: NGPC Potential Partners: Lower Big Blue NRD, NGPC Parks Division Swanton Lake WMA (Saline County) Swanton Lake (Swan 67) is a 40-acre reservoir located 4 miles northwest of Swanton which is owned by the Lower Big Blue NRD. The reservoir was renovated in 2007 to eradicate Common Carp, which had been successful until recently when they were again sampled. The
