due to the limited number of public fishing lakes in the area. However, the lake is prone to
fish kills because of its lack of depth and dense aquatic vegetation. This project aims to
address these issues by removing nutrient-rich sediment, enhancing angler access to deeper
water, and adding a boat launch facility.
Goals: Habitat, Access
Tasks:
a. Targeted sediment removal to restore storage capacity and enhance angler
access areas.
b. Improve shoreline access with bump outs, jetties and docks.
c. Improve boat and kayak launching facilities.
Ownership: NGPC
Potential Partners: NGPC Parks Division
Wild Plum (Lancaster County)
Wild Plum is a 16-surface acre reservoir and owned by the Lower Platte South NRD The lake
offers anglers a good fishing opportunity in the Lincoln area. However, it is an aging
reservoir and shallow due to years of sediment accumulation and lacks sufficient angler
access and amenities. The project should enhance average depth, improve angler access
and significantly upgrade the overall fishing experience.
Goals: Habitat, Access, Prevention
Tasks:

access areas.

Wildwood Reservoir WMA (Lancaster County)
Wildwood Lake is a 105-acre reservoir located 20-miles northwest of Lincoln, which is owned
by the Lower Platte South NRD. An aquatic habitat project was completed in 2003 and has
yielded excellent fishing for Bluegill, Crappie, Largemouth Bass and Channel Catfish.
Unfortunately, White Perch were discovered in 2017 and Common Carp in 2024. The Lower
Platte South NRD has noted that significant work may be required on the dam soon,
potentially requiring a major drawdown. If a drawdown is required, this would be an
opportune time to renovate the fishery, remove accumulated sediment, and improve angler
access.
