18 2024 Annual Report • Management Nebraska Game and Parks is tasked with the stewardship of the state's fi sh, wildlife, park, and outdoor recreation resources in the best long-term interests of the people and those resources. We work with partners to manage our parklands and trails for outdoor enthusiasts, while also focusing our eff orts on conservation that supports wildlife, fi sh and plant diversity and health. The job we face is complex. The needs and interests in every ecosystem are diverse and many — among wildlife, plants, people and places. We take seriously our role in striking a balance that benefi ts both our resources and the people of the state. When we do, all populations thrive. Public provides input on management decisions In our commitment to fostering open communication and collaboration, the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission organizes public meetings designed to gather valuable input and insights from hunters, anglers and landowners. These meetings serve as a dynamic forum where our stakeholders can voice their needs, concerns and aspirations regarding the management of Nebraska's natural resources. Participants have the opportunity to discuss various topics, including access to hunting and fi shing sites, wildlife conservation eff orts, and land management strategies. By listening to and learning from these discussions, we are better equipped to tailor our initiatives to refl ect the community's preferences and priorities. This inclusive approach not only enhances our understanding of stakeholder needs but also builds a stronger, more harmonious relationship between those who enjoy Nebraska's natural beauty and those who steward the land. We look forward to continuing this valuable dialogue and working together to support a vibrant and thriving outdoor heritage for generations to come. Management Thick and tall habitat cover helps birds thrive and survive the winter months. Good cover provides shelter from weather and predators and provides a food source of seeds and berries for upland and other bird species.
