ROCKFORD STATE RECREATION AREA
T
his popular 150-acre fishing and power boating
lake lies 7 miles east and 2 miles south of
Beatrice. With 286 land acres, there is plenty of
room for picnicking, hiking, camping, unsupervised
swimming, fishing and hunting (in season).
Rockford SRA offers Electric Plus, Electric and
Basic camping. Other facilities include drinking
water and primitive restrooms. Homestead
National Monument, where Daniel Freeman
claimed the first homestead under the Homestead
Act of 1862, is located near Beatrice.
FISHING
The area offers good fishing for bluegill, channel
catfish, crappie, flathead catfish, largemouth bass,
walleye, common carp and bullhead.
