MEMPHIS STATE RECREATION AREA
M
emphis SRA is a beautiful state recreation
area with a 48-acre lake close to Eugene
T. Mahoney State Park. The area offers Electric
Plus, Basic and Primitive camping, fishing, hiking,
picnicking and wildlife viewing. Electric or
non-powered boats are allowed at Memphis.
The area features a large campground with
dozens of mature, shade-producing trees scattered
throughout. The playgrounds and open grassy
areas give youngsters plenty of room to play, and
the campground wraps around the north lake
shore, providing dozens of campsites along the
water's edge.
FISHING
The lake has largemouth bass, bluegill, channel
catfish and crappie.
Nearby attractions include the Venture Parks
(Eugene T. Mahoney and Platte River state parks;
Louisville and Schramm SRAs and Education
Center), Strategic Air and Aerospace Museum,
and Lee G. Simmons Conservation Park and
Wildlife Safari.
