T
he Lied Bridge is a former Rock Island Railroad
bridge near South Bend. The bridge connects
short trails on either side of the Platte River. It
offers a beautiful view of the river and surrounding
scenery, with 1½ miles of trail between parking
lots. The top of the old bridge was replaced by
a 14-foot-wide concrete trail with railings and
viewing platforms.
Parking lots are available on both the Cass and
Sarpy county sides of the trail.
FISHING
Fishing is allowed from the bridge, and anglers
have good success catching shovelnose sturgeon
and channel catfish.
