72 Entry features can serve an important role in the identification of a natural playscape. A conventional playground is certainly recognizable; however, a collection of spaces made of logs, boulders, dirt, and other less familiar play elements may benefit from a sign, arbor, or other marker saying "Yes, come play." With the Two Rivers SRA natural playscape entry being next to the popular caboose cabins, a theme tied to the railroad made sense. Thinking of how people associate with railroads, the seemingly endless row of ties forming the track and a road crossing arm easily came to mind. Translating to the pathway into the playscape, timbers will be placed along either side like a rail line for energy-filled children to hop and bound along. Like a railroad crossing arm identifies the tracks, constructing that imagery through timbers, paint, logs, and creativity clearly provides that invitation to begin your nature play experience.
