2018-2022 Focus on the Future • Nebraska Game and Parks Commission 15 strategies strategic directions Conduct best management practices to sustain diverse native plant and animal species and enhance critical or biologically unique habitats. GOAL 2: Nurture a rich and diverse land and water environment Create Multi-Species Regional Landscape Plans. Develop a statewide stream and river ecosystem management approach and plan. Identify species management and promotional opportunities for individual species of fish and fishing (species-specific planning and urban fishing opportunities). Rebuild Water Issues Team and engage in water management decisions in the state. Coordinate agency-wide nature-based education programs. Provide information to the public regarding conservation efforts, diverse land and water habitats, and natural resources that are important to the state. Maintain and foster strong and diverse partnerships by building relationships based on shared interests in the conservation of natural resources. Develop Lands Strategies Plan for the agency. Continue to be engaged in national Farm Bill to support conservation efforts. Provide opportunities for the public to explore, recreate and enjoy the diverse land and water managed while conserving and protecting the long-term health of the resources. Establish and continue partnerships with public and private conservation entities and other partners to provide healthy and productive land and water environments. Purchase and/or conserve critical habitats and biologically diverse land and water for the public's benefit. Provide input on policies related to natural resource conservation. desired outcomes Nebraskans are satisfied with the diversity of land and water resources and health of the state's fish, wildlife and plant communities. Expansion of partnerships with landowners and conservation entities to optimize healthy ecosystems across the state. Logistical and organizational capacity to ensure diverse amount of lands and water are appropriately operated, maintained and accessible. Acquisition of lands and waters that enhance healthy ecosystems and benefit recreational opportunities. Public interest in Nebraska's native plants, animal species and ecosystems. Informative and experiential outreach programs for the public in diverse land and water settings.
