12 Nebraska Game and Parks Commission • 2018-2022 Focus on the Future
goals, strategies,
strategic directions
and desired outcomes
Establishing goals helps us achieve the agency's mission. Shared goals foster teamwork and help our organization
describe what we want to accomplish. STRATEGIES are the methods used to accomplish the goals identified. They define
what is important to reach our goals. They guide our overall plan of action and assist us in tracking our progress towards
our goals. STRATEGIC DIRECTIONS are specific actions that the agency desires to take in the next one to five years.
These action items are more detailed than the strategies and assist in meeting the desired outcomes for each goal.
DESIRED OUTCOMES are the measurable results towards our goals achieved from the implementation of our strategies
and strategic directions. Desired outcomes can change over time, depending on our strategies and funding. This section
identifies and describes our goals, strategies, strategic directions and desired outcomes for the next five years.
Nebraska has a wide variety of land and water
that is important habitat for an abundance of fish,
wildlife and outdoor recreation enthusiasts. The loss
and degradation of these habitats are challenges,
and the health of fish, wildlife and people depend
on the quality of their environment. It is critical
to manage and conserve these resources using
collaborative and efficient policies and programs.
There also is a large amount of infrastructure
available for recreational users that must be
maintained to provide safe and memorable
experiences. Policies and programs include
procedures on how we do business and the way
we engage. Written policies and programs shared
among staff provide guidance that will ensure
consistency in our procedures. It is crucial that we
agency work with private landowners to improve
the habitats on which all fish and wildlife depend.
