47 | P a g e Buckskin Hills Reservoir WMA (Dixon County) Buckskin Hills is a 75-surface acre flood control reservoir built by the Lewis and Clark NRD in 1980. While still a somewhat functional fishery, sedimentation from the hilly, row-crop watershed has taken its toll. Much of the large woody debris has deteriorated along with the overall fish habitat resulting in declining angler catch rates. The overall goal is to reclaim areas affected by sedimentation and the improvement of Bluegill and Crappie habitat. Goals: Habitat Tasks: a. Excavate sediment basin on the south arm to maintain water quality in main lake basin. b. Improve Bluegill and Crappie habitat by excavation of sediment in north and south arm and installation of fish habitat structures. c. Improve habitat conditions with shoreline protection on the main lake. Ownership: Lewis and Clark NRD Potential Partners: NGPC Wildlife Division, Lewis and Clark NRD
