39 | P a g e Lake Minatare SRA (Scotts Bluff County) Lake Minatare is a 2,100 surface-acre irrigation reservoir with a unique water operation. The lake has a flash fill as an off-channel reservoir and then it is drained down within a couple months. Fish habitat is limited during low water levels most of the year. Mapping the reservoir will determine the optimal locations for habitat enhancements with the maximum benefits to the fishery and updating the bathymetric map. Boating access is limited at times of low water and would benefit from improvements to these facilities. Goals: Habitat, Access, Evaluation Tasks: a. Evaluate available aquatic habitat features and update contour map. b. Install rock and wood habitat structures at optimal lake elevations. c. Improve shoreline access with bump outs, jetties and docks. d. Improve boat access facilities to accommodate varying water levels. Ownership: Bureau of Reclamation Potential Partners: NGPC Parks Division, Bureau of Reclamation. Long Pine Creek WMA/SRA (Brown County) Long Pine Creek has an in-stream appropriation held by NGPC since 1989 and has several sections open for public access at Long Pine SRA, Long Pine WMA and Pine Glenn WMA. In- stream habitat and angler access improvements have been made at these areas in the past, however, additional enhancements are needed to improve public use and fish habitat throughout these areas as well as maintenance to existing habitat structures. Goals: Habitat, Access Tasks: a. Improve access by removing heavy tree encroachment. b. Improve access to Long Pine WMA by replacing a culvert washed out in 2019. c. Provide angler access to upper stream reaches on Pine Glenn WMA and Long Pine WMA. d. Improve instream habitat throughout Long Pine Creek on both the WMA's and SRA. e. Maintain existing fish habitat structures throughout Long Pine State Recreation Area. Ownership: NGPC Potential Partners: NGPC Parks Division, NGPC Wildlife Division, NGPC Planning and Programming Division.
