Chemical renovation of fish population to improve sportfish populations in Dave's Lake. c. Improve angler access and parking area to Dave's Lake. d. Evaluate effect of barrier installation on water flow. Ownership: NGPC Potential Partners: Duck's Unlimited, Sandhills Task Force, NGPC Wildlife Division Cottonwood Lake SRA (Cherry County) Cottonwood Lake is a 34-acre lake located east of Merriman. Overall goals are to improve angler access, fish habitat and maintain proper water levels. Bank access is nearly non- existent due to both emergent and submergent aquatic vegetation, along with infestations of invasive Eurasian watermilfoil. Cottonwood Lake's dock is in poor condition and needs to be replaced. Goals: Habitat, Access, Prevention, Evaluation Tasks: a. Improve shoreline access with bump outs, jetties and docks. b. Improve shoreline access by installing aquatic vegetation barriers and/or chemical treatment. c. Investigate methods to maintain water levels within the lake. d. Improve boating access facilities. Ownership: NGPC Potential Partners: NGPC Parks Division. Cozad Lake (Brown County) Cozad Lake (South Pine WMA) is an 80-acre Sandhills lake located in Brown County. After a winter kill, the lake appears to be free of Common Carp; however, protective measures such as a barrier in the watershed may prevent future rough fish contamination. If Common Carp are discovered, a fish renovation may also need to be completed. Angler access is limited by cattail encroachment around the lake perimeter, which could be improved with angler access structures and selective deepening.
