Nebraska Game and Parks Commission 51 Prescribed burns (like this one for controlling eastern red cedar trees in grasslands) can be a valuable management tool for preventing wildfi res as well. Unit is equipped to manage complex, long-term investigations and provide crucial support to fi eld offi cers handling an increasing number of technical assistance requests. These changes reinforce that whether it's a state park, a wildlife management area or one of Nebraska's many water bodies, it's important conservation offi cers are there, working for the safety of Nebraskans and our wildlife. Battling and preventing wildfi res Nebraska Game and Parks staff , along with local emergency responders in many areas, assisted with and helped control many wildfi res across the state in 2024. Staff responded to at least 75 incidents requiring aide on both private and public lands. It takes a cooperative eff ort to protect the people and the natural resources of the state, and we are proud of our staff 's courage and willingness to help those in need. The agency also put temporary restrictions in place, when needed, to protect our resources and shared important safety reminders.
