ridgeport SRA lies adjacent to the North
Platte River on the north edge of the town of
Bridgeport, on U.S. Hwy. 26 and U.S. Hwy. 385.
Those looking for shady campsites and sandy beaches
will enjoy a visit to Bridgeport State Recreation Area,
a relatively small but popular spot for power-boating
and non-motorized water sports, camping and
picnicking on the west side of Bridgeport, Nebraska.
It encompasses about 326 acres, including 78 acres of
water in five sandpit lakes.
The park has a variety of amenities including
overnight camping, an unsupervised swimming
beach and day use picnic shelters, along with
fishing and hunting opportunities. Power boats are
permitted on the center lake; all other lakes allow
only non-powered boats or electric motors.
Bridgeport State Recreation Area offers 72
designated Basic camp sites, all of which are
first-come, first-served. Each site features a
ground grill and picnic table. Sites vary in size and
location, but the area has a variety of waterfront,
grass and secluded sites available. Amenities
include an RV dump and fill station, located near
the park entrance; primitive restrooms; garbage
containers throughout the area; and drinking
water at the swimming beach.
FISHING
There are opportunities for largemouth
bass, crappie, bluegill and channel catfish.
Stocked trout are available in the middle
and northwest lakes.
