GROUP AND CONFERENCE FACILITIES
Platte River State Park has excellent facilities
for groups. Mallet and Decker Creek lodges are
great for larger groups. The Red Barn can sleep
20 in bunk beds in the loft and is super for small
groups and family get-togethers. Groups can also
reserve a picnic shelter. Scott Lodge houses the
park restaurant, open Mother's Day and weekends
until Memorial Day, daily through Labor Day, and
on weekends in September and October. The
restaurant can also cater group functions. Scott
Lodge may be rented during the winter months
for group events.
CAMPING
Campers will enjoy the state-of-the-art camp-
ground with 48 Full Hookup campsites. All
campsites are full service 50-amp campsites.
Other amenities include a shower facility, modern
restrooms, picnic table and fire ring/grills. There
is a fenced dog park along with a playground.
Advanced reservations for 19 of the Full Hookup
campsites are accepted. In addition, four hike-in
Basic campsites in the Fox Hollow area are
first-come, first-served.
FISHING
Jenny Newman Lake provides outstanding
bass, bluegill and catfish angling. The lake
is catch-and-release for all species.
CRAWDAD CREEK
This attraction invites guests to get into the water,
get muddy and interact with the natural world in a
series of small ponds. Both children and adults can
splash, play and explore, and even catch minnows,
tadpoles, crawdads and frogs.
ROGER G. SYKES OUTDOOR HERITAGE
EDUCATION COMPLEX
The Roger G. Sykes Outdoor Heritage Education
Complex features a multipurpose shooting range.
The Complex provides one-on-one instruction
and equipment for new and novice shooters.
The facility accommodates several shooting
disciplines, including an archery range with
shooting tower, slingshot range, a tomahawk
throw, a 50-yard small bore rifle range, an indoor
10-meter pellet gun range and a shotgun range
with trap house and a 5-stand sporting clays
feature. Equipment provided as well as expert
hands-on instruction. The complex was designed
for families and sports-minded people of all ages.
