84 RIVER VALLEY Not every element within a natural playscape has to be newly manufactured material. Trees and boulders are used in a different way to become play, but other materials may be available to transform with a little creativity. Cannons were a part of the Fort Atkinson history and used tires are in abundant supply, so through upcycling, discarded materials can be repurposed into a feature of the playscape.
