THE CONCEPT
» An "introduction to nature play" is the idea
for phase 1 and should be simple.
» Phase 2 expands on the experiences to
include greater risk and more sensory
experiences.
» Controlled and accessible water activities
shall be the emphasis of phase 3.
» The most natural area is developed
in phase 4. It provides an immersive
experience into nature.
THE MATERIALS
» Material from park as well as surrounding
park properties shall be the primary source
throughout the phases.
» Upcycling will also be utilized where
possible.
» Purchase certified playground mulch for
areas under climbers and other areas in
accordance with ASTM.
THE FINAL DESIGN
» Overall construction documents will not be
developed for this playscape. The approved
master plan will be used as a guideline.
» Construction documents will be created
for necessary phases with the help
of engineering staff and/or private
consultants.
THE CONSTRUCTION
» Tools and labor provided by Parks
Department and volunteers.
» A CPSI from Parks Department will review
area prior to opening to ensure hazards
have been minimized.
