49 THE VISION » Create an opportunity to introduce natural play along an existing trail. » Provide a simple, comfortable, low- risk option for the users. » Seating is needed for adults and other trail users. » This playscape adds value to the existing trail for potential increased use. THE PARTICIPANTS » This scale of playscape will be funded and developed by the Parks Department and staff. » A design meeting with Parks Department staff will be held to provide ideas and develop buy-in. » Someone on staff with Certified Playground Safety Inspector (CPSI) training will be consulted for safety review of playscape elements. THE PROCESS » All materials and funds will come from the existing site and park budget. » Activity and use of the natural playscape will be assessed after two years. » Costs will be minimized by using currently available materials. THE SITE » The site will be along the existing trail in area visible from trailhead. » The overall area should be less than 20'x20'. » Ideally a significant environmental or natural feature can be included. MOTION IN TREES Use what nature provides by looking to incorporate mature trees as part of the playscape.
