THE VISION
» Create an opportunity to introduce
natural play along an existing trail.
» Provide a simple, comfortable, low-
risk option for the users.
» Seating is needed for adults and other
trail users.
» This playscape adds value to the
existing trail for potential
increased use.
THE PARTICIPANTS
» This scale of playscape will be
funded and developed by the Parks
Department and staff.
» A design meeting with Parks
Department staff will be held to
provide ideas and develop buy-in.
» Someone on staff with Certified
Playground Safety Inspector (CPSI)
training will be consulted for safety
review of playscape elements.
THE PROCESS
» All materials and funds will come from
the existing site and park budget.
» Activity and use of the natural
playscape will be assessed after two
years.
» Costs will be minimized by using
currently available materials.
THE SITE
» The site will be along the existing trail
in area visible from trailhead.
» The overall area should be less than
20'x20'.
» Ideally a significant environmental or
natural feature can be included.
MOTION IN TREES
Use what nature provides by looking to incorporate mature trees as part of the
playscape.
BALANCE CHALLENGE
