LINCOLN – Bird watchers of all ages are invited to join the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission for Southeast District Birding Day on May 11 at Burchard Wildlife Management Area (WMA).

This event is a great opportunity to get into the field, learn a bit about birds and local resource areas, and visit with agency staff and partners. Participants will meet at the WMA parking area at 7:30 a.m. Lunch and presentations are at 11 a.m.

Participants should bring binoculars, cameras, field guides, insect repellant, camp chair, as well as appropriate clothing and footwear for walking fields.

Birders must contact Sam Cowan by 5 p.m. on May 6 at sam.cowan@nebraska.gov or 402-228-0301 and specify if they will bring their own lunch or purchase one for $5 at the site.

Burchard is located 7 miles west and 4 north of Pawnee City in Pawnee County.
