Nebraska Game and Parks Announces Spring Trout Stocking Schedule

LINCOLN – The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission will stock nearly 41,000 catchable-size rainbow trout in city ponds and lakes across the state this month to enhance spring fishing opportunities.

Angling for stocked rainbow trout is an excellent way to introduce young and new anglers to fishing.

The stocking schedule, subject to change depending on conditions, includes date, location and quantity (times are approximate):

Week of March 7 – Gracie Creek Pond, 1,025

March 16 – Bridgeport State Recreation Area (SRA) northwest pit, 1,400; Morrill middle pit, 450; Morrill north pit, 1,350

March 17 – Rock Creek Lake, 1,000; Fremont SRA No. 2, 3,800; Eugene T. Mahoney State Park (SP) CenturyLink Lake, 2,300; Weeping Water Pond, 1,200

March 18 – Curtis Golf Course, 150, 11 a.m.; Melham Park Lake, Broken Bow, 1,500, 12:30 p.m.; Lexington City Lake, 750; Humboldt City Park Lake, 350; Rotary Lake, Auburn, 800; Stanton Lake, Falls City, 200; Pawnee City Lake, 300; Fort Kearny SRA No. 6, 600; Holdrege City Park, 1,000; Auble Pond, Ord, 750; Ponca SP, 900

March 19 – TaHaZouka Park, Norfolk, 1,400, 11 a.m.; Barnett Park, McCook, 1,000, 11 a.m.; Such’s Lake, Grand Island, 650, 11:15 a.m.; Lake Halleck, Papillion, 1,100, 11:45 a.m.; Oxford City Lake, 150, noon; Pawnee Park West, Columbus, 1,400, 12:15 p.m.; Heartwell Park, Hastings, 450; 12:15 p.m.; Steinhart Park, Nebraska City, 1,100, 1 p.m.; Holmes Lake, Lincoln, 3,800, 1 p.m.; Windmill SRA No. 2, Gibbon, 600, 1 p.m.; Elm Creek, 1,000, 2 p.m.

Week of March 21 – Ponca SP, 500; Fremont SRA No. 2, 1,000; Niobrara SP, 500; Terry’s Pit, Terrytown, 1,500; Zoo Pond, Scottsbluff, 900; Lake Ogallala SRA, 4,000
