Lake and Pond Management Workshops Scheduled

LINCOLN – Persons interested in pond and lake management are invited to a series of free workshops this spring.

The workshops are a joint effort of the Nebraska Extension, Nebraska Department of Environmental Quality and Nebraska Game and Parks Commission. The workshops are intended for landowners and others interested in learning about:

— How lakes function in southeast Nebraska

— Managing waters for fisheries

— Lake management planning

— Resolving common maintenance problems

— Developing an individualized maintenance plan for a private pond

— Project funding and regulations

Reservations are required. The schedule for the workshops, which will begin at 6 p.m., is as follows:

Norfolk – March 23, Lifelong Learning Center, 601 E. Benjamin Ave.; deadline: March 21; register: go.unl.edu/NorfolkLakes

Mead – April 18, Christenson Research and Education Building, Agricultural Research and Development Center, 1071 County Road G; deadline: April 14; register: go.unl.edu/MeadLakes

Tecumseh – April 21, Johnson County 4-H Building, 633 N. 1st St.; deadline: April 17; register: go.unl.edu/TecumsehLakes
