56 Nebraska Game and Parks Commission • Floating The Good Life This guide has given you advice on how to plan, design, implement, and market your community's water trail. Most successful projects get as many people and partnerships involved as early as possible to build support and minimize controversies. Remember the Arrival, Approach and Launch concept when designing your put-in and take-out locations so that you can best address all possible amenities and alternatives. Involve the appropriate governmental entities early so that permitting and regulations can be addressed without causing unnecessary delays. Create an efficient and effective operation and maintenance plan so the area does not fall into disarray a few years after construction. Utilize whatever you can to market your new water trail to the rest of the state, so that your community can benefit economically and recreationally. Remember, you are not alone. Several entities in the state operate water trails and access points. Do not be afraid to ask questions and get advice from those that have already done it early and often.
