26 Nebraska Game and Parks Commission • 2018-2022 Focus on the Future evaluation and adaptive management Periodic assessment of activities and priorities to ensure they meet with our core values, guiding principles, goals and strategies must take place. Unexpected opportunities that arise should comport to the goals, strategies and guiding principles outlined in the plan. Strategic directions and priorities outlined in the plan should be incorporated into the budgeting process. Staff and the Board of Commissioners will monitor progress and evaluate the strategic plan annually in order to adapt to achieve the desired outcomes. Annually, desired outcomes will be evaluated to determine progress in meeting goals. Monitoring will be achieved by continued surveying of constituents, partners and the public to determine attitudes and opinions about how we protect, conserve and manage resources. Partnerships will be assessed by the success of our shared actions and ability to maintain strong relationships with partners. The actions undertaken to meet the goals of the plan will be adaptive; we will take action based on the best available science and information, monitor and evaluate outcomes, and re-evaluate and adjust as more information is learned. We will make constant improvement in efforts to address challenges and meet our goals. conclusion Focus on the Future, the agency's strategic plan, is a big-picture document that describes where the agency wants to be in the future and how we intend to get there. This plan will be the foundation for implementation of operational actions that will lead to achieving the desired outcomes. We are a public service agency and this plan will allow us to fulfill the expectations assigned to us by the public to protect and conserve our outdoor resources into the future. The diagram below provides the framework of how we envision our strategic plan. We believe the Mission, Core Values and Guiding Principles will remain central to all actions of our employees, but the goals, strategies, strategic directions, desired outcomes and our adaptation to what we learn through the process will continuously evolve as we move forward in the future. Following this roadmap, the agency will continue to provide opportunities and experiences to ensure Time Outdoors is Time Well Spent.
