OutdoorNebraska.org | 11 LENGTH LIMITS Species Limits Black bass (largemouth, smallmouth and spotted) • Daily bag limit may contain only one 21 inches or longer, statewide • 12-inch minimum on the Missouri River between Nebraska and Iowa, and be- tween Nebraska and Missouri (NOTE: No length limit on all Missouri River waters bordering South Dakota) • 15-inch minimum on all inland waters, including DeSoto National Wildlife Refuge, Snyder Bend Lake and Lake Yankton • 21-inch minimum on waters as listed in the Public Fishing Areas section, and on private waters leased in the Open Fields and Waters, and PATH Fishing programs Bullfrogs • 4½-inch minimum (snout to vent), statewide Crappie • 10-inch minimum at Branched Oak Lake, Czechland Lake and Sherman Reservoir Yellow perch • 12-inch minimum at Rat and Beaver Lake Muskellunge or Tiger muskie • 40-inch minimum, statewide Northern pike • 28-inch maximum at Valentine National Wildlife Refuge • 30-inch minimum at Alda DOR, Grove Lake, Cottonmill Lake, Enders Reservoir, Hershey I-80 Lake, Red Willow Reservoir, Maskenthine Reservoir, Sherman Reservoir • 28- to 34-inch protected slot length limit at Box Butte Reservoir and Goose Lake Striped bass, white bass and their hybrids (combined) • Daily bag limit may include only one fish 16 inches or longer, inland waters Walleye, Sauger and Saugeye • Daily bag limit may include only one walleye, sauger or saugeye 22 inches or longer on all inland waters, except Sherman Reservoir • 15-inch minimum statewide, except for the portion of the Missouri River downstream of Gavins Point Dam (no minimum length) and the following: ▶ Branched Oak Lake – daily bag limit is one walleye 22 inches or longer ▶ DeSoto National Wildlife Refuge – 15-inch minimum length ▶ Elwood Reservoir, Harlan County Lake, Merritt Reservoir – daily bag limit of four may include one from 15 to 18 inches and three longer than 18 inches or four longer than 18 inches. No more than one longer than 22 inches allowed in daily bag. ▶ Sherman Reservoir – daily bag limit can include two (2) fish between 15 inches and not greater than 20 inches and one (1) longer than 28 inches. There is a slot length limit protecting walleye ranging from 20 to 28 inches. ▶ Calamus Reservoir – daily bag limit may include two 15 to 18 inches in length and two over 18 inches, with no more than one 22 inches or greater. One-Over Length Bag Limits – For some species, such as black bass and walleye, the number of large fish that may be harvested may be limited on some or all waters. For example, while it may be legal to harvest four black bass more than 15 inches from a given lake, statewide regulations prohibit an angler from harvesting more than one black bass 21 inches or longer each day from any waters. Therefore, for lakes with a 21-inch minimum length limit on black bass, the daily bag limit becomes one fish.
